Sri Lanka Takes Out Plate at ICC U19 World Cup

Sri Lanka has come out champions in the plate finals of the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.

Like the PNG Under 19 Garamuts, Sri Lanka fell short of making the cut to challenge competition leaders Australia, India and Afghanistan in the Super League, thus falling back to the plate play-off.

Having won only one of their 3 pool matches, Sri Lanka redeemed themselves by winning all three of their plate final matches against Kenya, Zimbabwe and West Indies respectively to take out the plate.

PNG Garamuts, on the other hand, have come out of this without a win, but more experienced than before going into the tournament.

For now, some of the team members have their sights set on the PNG national men’s team.
