Saulep Challenges Sevua Report

Lawyer and Acting Chancellor of the University of Technology, Ralph Saulep, will challenge the reinstatement of Dr Albert Schram in the courts.

Mr Saulep said the findings in the Sevua Report, have no basis, supported with facts and evidence. “There were no sufficient details presented to the inquiry stating extensive management of higher institutions by Dr Schram”, he said.

“The only way was to bring the matter to the courts, to prove the legitimacy and accuracy of the report presented to the government” he added.

Meanwhile Mr Saulep questioned the validity of the meeting that was convened on the 28th last month, which saw the appointment of a new council, and the decision to reinstate Dr Schram as the Vice Chancellor of Unitech.

He also condemned the actions by Unitech student, to use political power to intervene in the affairs of the University. “This is absolute abuse of student power”, added Mr Saulep.

Meanwhile Dr Schram arrived in Lae today, and was greeted by over 300 students from Unitech at the Nadzab airport.  About 80 vehicles convoyed from the airport, and escorted Dr Schram into the city.
