ROAD SEALING TO JOIN TWO DISTRICTS IN ENGA PROVINCE

The Aipinimanda-Wabag Road Project is being upgraded to prepare for sealing, which will begin soon.
Wabag Open MP Dr Lino Tom mentioned that whilst the road on the Wabag side is having drainage and culvert installations, the Ambum side roadworks started earlier this week after peace negotiations were completed in the area.
Wabag District Development Authority (WDDA) Project Engineer Robin Pawa Wak confirmed that grubbing and surface improvements are currently being undertaken before the commencement of drainage and culvert installations.
Wak mentioned that the Wabag-Aipinimanda road project is the second road project that will be sealed after the Birip-Lukitap road, which connects Aiyel Valley in the Wapenamanda District into Wabag District.
He said the scope of the 7.2 km road upgrade and sealing project from Wabag Town to Aipinimanda connecting the Ambum Valley includes road widening, clearing and grubbing, gravel surfacing, drainage maintenance and other associated civil works.
“Following these initial activities, project will progress to major construction phases, including drainage installation, pavement construction and sealing,” Wak concluded.
The Wabag District Development Authority is determined to complete the sealing of this vital road link before the 2027 National General Elections.
This newly constructed road has joined the Ambum Valley in the Kompiam Ambum District into the provincial capital through Aipinimanda village located along the border with sealing to follow thereafter.
