Puma Energy Statement Regarding Recent Spill at Kanudi

On Tuesday morning 25th April, Puma Energy reported an unfortunate incident related to a sub-sea hose connected to the pipeline which feeds its Kanudi Terminal facility in Port Moresby, PNG that resulted in a spill of oil product into the harbor area.

The sub-sea hose was not being used for any delivery operation at the time of the incident.

Puma Energy took immediate steps to contain this oil product and is continuing to conduct a review into the incident.

Even though this is a small sized spill of approximately 1-2 cubic metres, Puma Energy is committed to the appropriate response and ensuring that the spill is contained and cleaned up.

The priority, with the help of a number of international experts, is to continue the clean-up activity near the confined areas of Paga Point, along the beach at Kilakila, Harbour areas and at Manubada island.

Over the past two days extra resources and people from the impacted communities were mobilised along with vessels, skimming units, and containment booms to assist with the clean-up.

The company has proactively been in communication with the relevant authorities and local communities advising them of the incident and clean-up efforts.

A further update will be issued in due course.
