Proper Water Supply in Bulolo

Public Servants in Bulolo district have reported that there is no proper water supply in the district.

The Police Station Commander for Bulolo Police Post in Bulolo District Leo Kaykas, released 8 prisoners with minor cases before Christmas due to toilet blockage and not water supply.

Kaikas said he has reported the matter to higher authorities but nothing has been done.

Bulolo District Police Station Commander, Leo Kaikas said the only solution left is to shut down the Police Post if no help is given from the Police hierarchy and the Provincial and District levels.

The water supply problem in Bulolo District has been a concern for over 10 years. It has not only affected the Police Post, but the rest of Bulolo area.

Kaikas said they have been getting water from the PNG Forest Industry to help sustain the Prisoners in the cellblocks.

This is the new Bulolo Police Post that was built in 2008. It has 15 police officers working there with the assistance of 8 police reserves from the local level government.

The Police Post has 4 cellblocks with a holding capacity of 20 men. There has not been a residential magistrate in the district for more than 3 years.

Detainees are being released on bail due to the health condition in the cell and no proper court hearings.
