By Meriba Tulo – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, has offered the condolences of the nation to the people and Government of Sri Lanka following a series of devastating terrorist attacks against Christians. The Prime Minister said, “It is with sadness that PNG had received news of the terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka this Easter Weekend.”

He adds, that at a time when Christians were in prayer on one of the most Holy days of the year, this is a most callous act of violence against the innocent, many people have been killed and injured while in prayer and honouring their faith and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Prime Minister O’Neill offered PNG’s deepest condolences to the families of those who have been killed and injured, and urged Papua New Guineans to pray for the people of Sri Lanka in these difficult times.

At this stage, authorities are yet to confirm if there were any Papua New Guineans caught up in the situation and await further information from PNG’s Foreign Affairs Department.
