Police discover home-brewing items on Mother-son duo, group

A woman from West New Britain is among several including a mother and her son were arrested this afternoon (17/06/17) in Buka by the Bougainville Police Service for the illegal production of home brew substance.

The West New Britain female suspect arrived yesterday (16/06/17) in Buka, and was arrested for her involvement with several people at the Town’s dump area.

Police also confiscated several items involved with the production of the illicit alochol.

North-sub Commander, Kingsley Lua said police acted upon several complaints, that people living in the surrounding areas of the dump area, were actively involved in brewing home brew.

A raid was carried out this morning, which saw the surrendering of items. Five of them have been charged with no bail granted until the court hearing.

Police will continue their investigations with more arrest expected.
