PNG Swimmers Preparing for TNT Short Course Championship

With only 2 weeks to go before the TNT Short Course Championships, PNG swimmers are already gearing up for a more challenging competition.

Swimmers as far as Lae city will travel to Port Moresby to compete in the tournament.

All our national sporting codes have been organizing themselves in preparation for the PNG games and the 2015 Pacific Games. It is no different for our swimmers.

They are all gearing up and preparing themselves for their first and upcoming swimming championships.

They are all at it, by training hard in the pool in the morning and afternoon, and gym sessions on the weekend as their first TNT Championship is approaching with only 21 days to go.

The TNT championship that our swimmers are training towards is usually held in Lae, Morobe Province every year, but this year, it will take place here in the Nation’s Capital, Port Moresby.

Selections and applications for the tournament closed on the 3rd of March for 2014 and the games will take place on 21st of March.

The upcoming events for 2014 are as follows:

  • Oceania Championships, Auckland, New Zealand (18–23 May 2014)
  • XX Commonwealth Games, Glasgow, Scotland (23rd July–3rd August 2014)
  • Youth Olympic Games, Nanjing, China (16th  – 28th August 2014)
The training will still continue for our swimmers after those events, for the 2015 Pacific Games.

The TNT Short Course Championship will be held at the Ela Murray International School here in Port Moresby from the 21st to Sunday the 23rd of March.
