Parkop responds to challenge and condemns police attack

Governor Powes Parkop, on Wednesday, called an urgent press conference to denounce police attacks in Port Moresby.

Parkop said candidates banding together to unseat him are attacking below the belt.

His response to four candidates comes while condemning an attack on street vendors.  He claims it was done to smear his reputation.

Vendors were assaulted by Police around the city in three separate locations that included a Down town spot and market in Hohola.

Parkop claimed it was a politically motivated.

The pictures of the attacks were widely shared on social media.

He says Jamie Maxtone Graham should go back to Jiwaka and run for elections.

This is after Michael Kandiu, James Melegepa, Jamuga Stone and Jamie-Maxtone Graham held said they’ve banded together to unseat Powes Parkop.
