O’Neill Visits Jimi District

Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill visited Jimi District in Jiwaka Province yesterday. Mr O’Neill’s visit was to open the Jimi District Treasury Office, and handover three ambulance vehicles for health services in the district.

Mr O’Neill arrived by chopper from Mt Hagen and was greeted by locals in typical Jimi fashion. Local MP Mai Dop, Governor Dr William Tongamp, and two other Jiwaka MP’s were present to welcome Mr O’Neill and his delegation.

In his keynote address, Mr O’Neill said his government is on a roll to push basic services right down to district level and Jimi has now come onboard like other many provinces.

Mr O’Neill then explained government policies to the people and highlighted criticism leveled against his government. He added that Jimi district will see more services, and called on the people to work with their MP.

O’Neill was accompanied by Finance Minister James Marape, Works Minister Francis Awesa, and Defence Minister Fabian Pok.
