Hot Spot Episode – 20, 2014

In this episode:

This week on Hot Spot, St Joseph’s International Catholic College were the first school in Port Moresby to wrap-up their participation in Pacific in Union program with a rugby festival.

In their respective classes, students displayed comradeship as well as an improvement in rugby skills. Their participation has become an annual event, now listed in their school calendar.

Gordons International was lucky to have both teams in the U-14 and U-12 in the respective finals in this week’s final round of competition in the in the Gold Nugget School Cricket Trophy.

In the U-14 semi-finals, Ela Murray beat Gordon International by 5 runs to meet Port Moresby Grammar in the Grand final next week.

While in the U-12 division, Gordons International proved too strong in their bowling and fielding to beat Korobosea International in the grand finale.

On another note, our PNG Palais coach is passionate about the development and growth of women’s rugby in the country and is hoping to initiate programs to bridge the gap and mould players from provincial to representative level.

And for our athletes profile this week, we profile Rellie Kaputin; a high Jump athlete who took part in the recent National Athletics Championships held in Kokopo.

Our Hot Spot for this weekend will be at the Korobosea International School to witness the IEA School Soccer Grand finals.

Play hard, play safe and we’ll catch you right here on Hot Spot!
