North Waghi Candidate Challenging Change of Venues

A candidate contesting the North Waghi Open seat in Jiwaka is concerned about the change of polling venues.

Frank Goi told EMTV News, 19 polling venues were relocated for Nodugl and Banz Local Level Government.

Goi claims there is collusion between the Returning Officer, the Jiwaka PPC and the sitting North Waghi MP.  He says, previous locations posed no threat or inconvenience for voters.

28 candidates are contesting the North Waghi seat in this National Election. Goi says, the change of polling venues will have an impact before polling. Goi is also calling for the Police hierarchy to look into the actions by Jiwaka PPC Joseph Tondop.

In a publication yesterday, Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato said the change of polling venues is purposely for security reasons.

Gamato stated that there are limited security resources for venues in North Waghi.

The 28 candidates contesting the seat are planning to take legal action against the Returning Officer and the Electoral Commission.
