A new hospital currently under construction in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, will replace the old buildings.
The current was built in the 1960s.
The Eastern Highlands Health Authority is looking at providing specialised care, training and research across Papua New Guinea once the hospital is completed.
The project is funded by the PNG government in partnership with the Czech Republic.
