NCD Corporate Volleyball Competition Grand Final

The NCD Corporate Volleyball competition had its grand final today. 20 teams competed, 10 for the Men’s and 10 for the Women’s division.

Power houses, Exxon Mobil, Dulux, and NAC, are some of the teams that vied for the cup, plate and bowl, in pools A and B.

A great crowd turned up to witness the showdown.

In the women’s division, EXXON Mobil and Port Moresby General Hospital (POM Gen) took the court, all charged, for the plate winner.  In the first set, both teams went head to head, until Exxon Mobil, concluded the set, with 26 points to POM Gen’s 24.

The second set was no different as the POM Gen ladies were already threatened by the powerful spikes from their opponents that left them stuck on 14 points while the Exxon ladies finished off on 25.  This got the POM Gen ladies into action, as they entered the court in the 3rd set, regrouped.

As if to make up for the two lost opportunities, the POM Gen ladies left the EXXON Ladies bewildered at just eight points, and brought the 25-set win home.

A repeat of a similar performance saw the ladies in white, claiming the 4th set as well, that set the points on the score board at 2 sets flat.  In the decider set, a series of spikes and convincing dummies from the EXXON ladies left the Pom Gen team on 10 points, as they brought the 25 victory home, sealing the deal, at three sets to two.
While in the men’s plate grand finals, the Dulux guys showed exactly why they were the favourite in the competition, with a three sets to two win, against the NAC Jets.

The second set saw head to head action until a missed serve and a failed block from the NAC guys allowed the Dulux side victory.

They went on to win two more sets, making it three sets, while the NAC Jets settled only for two sets.
