Morobe Backs Transparency International PNG

Efforts by Transparency International PNG, to fight and raise awareness on corruption, and empower citizens against it, has been backed by the Morobe Provincial Government.

For the first time, the anti-corruption organization received a donation from a provincial government.

 

A sum of k20, 000 was presented to TIPNG Chairman, Lawrence Stephens by Morobe Governor Kelly Naru. The presentation was done at the Melanesian Hotel.

 

Last week, TIPNG was in Lae for a 2 day exhibition and awareness drive with the theme, “Create Change with Us”. The exhibition was aimed at informing people about TIPNG projects for 2014, generate membership form individuals, corporate, schools and civil society organizations.

 

Prior to the exhibition, TIPNG officer visited schools and businesses houses in Lae, to create awareness among the elite.

 

TIPNG says, the fight is not to be fought alone by them, but by all. The anti-corruption group is calling all stakeholders to take ownership in the fight against corruption, and to promote good governance.
