Kaupa wants District Plan to Involve Stakeholder participation

By Jack Lapauve Jr, EMTV – Port Moresby

North East MP, John Kaupa, is opening a dialogue for the planning of the electorate.

MP Kaupa says all residents and stakeholders from all sectors must be involved in the development of the district.

He says the district plan must capture the public’s opinion before being finalised. Kaupa says past leaders have not considered a concrete plan to move the district forward.

Mr Kaupa says the district is in the heart of the city and proper planning to accommodate the changes of the growing city is crucial.

North East area covers main sections of the city. The airport and two national highways linking Gulf, Central and other areas of the Southern Region.

He says the plan hopes to improve living standards and educate city residents.

Mr Kaupa wants all stakeholders to have an input in the development plans of the district.

A majority of communities in the North East, live in settlements in and around the city. MP Kaupa says part of the plan is also to turn settlements into suburbs.

A similar approach is been pushed by all electorates in NCD.
