By Jack Lapauve Jr, EMTV – Port Moresby

Okapa District in Eastern Highlands is one of the remote and less developed areas in the country. Okapa MP, Saki Hacky Soloma, says building roads and bridges will be the district’s priority.

MP Soloma says for too long the Okapa people have suffered because of poor road network.

He says more than half of the 2018 DSIP funds will be diverted to open up roads and connect people to services.

Soloma says, road development has been neglected by past political leaders and the district aims to improve road conditions.

Soloma is one of the youngest politician serving in Eastern Highlands Province. The MP spoke highly of the poor road conditions and how desperate people need roads.

He says, a large sum of district funds will be allocated to building better roads. He wants all roads connecting the district to be improved or maintained according to standards set by the Works Department.

Soloma says district officers will be tasked to seek additional funding.
