Dublin based research organization, Research and Markets, predicts that by 2015, close to 3 million Papua New Guineans, will own a mobile phone.
Research and Markets says much of the growth is being driven by Digicel which is estimated to control about 90 percent of the PNG market.
However, there has also been recent growth with PNG state owned companies who now have a market share of 10 percent.
Under a restructure, PNG Telikom established a subsidiary company, Citifon while remaining in control of an earlier mobile carrier, Bmobile.
