Ministry of Sports Supports Sports Enhancement Program

Minister for Sports Justin Tkatchenko was pleased to present a number of cheques to a total of 5 sporting codes yesterday afternoon.

The funding comes under the K10 million allocated from the Government, which falls under the sports enhancement program for 2014.

Of the following presentations, PNG Boxing Union received K50, 000 while high impact and up-and-coming Taekwondo PNG received K100, 000.

The PNG Football Association was pleased with the generous amount of K100, 000 to assist and boost current development programs, while Yianis Nicolau of Lamana Hotel and Kilian Amini from the Media Pool competition received K50, 000 in the hopes of developing and promoting the long-time local sport.

An impressive K495, 000 was presented to Kemele Construction; a group of young entrepreneurs awarded to build a gym facility in the Hela Province.

Representatives from Kemele Construction announced that this generous donation will help the Hela province go a long way in developing sports and promoting physical activity.

Minister Tkatchenko commended the O’Neill Government in their effort to support the development of sports throughout Papua New Guinea.

With funding from the Ministry of Sports under the sports enhancement program, PNG should see an incline in the progress and development of sports throughout the country.
