Lewas Victorious In Japan

The Pacific MMI Lewas arrived at Jackson International airport this afternoon after ending Japan’s four year reign as the number one ranked team in the region.

The Lewas walked out with smiles and the ICC EAP Trophy, to a happy crowd of family, friends and the 2015 Pacific Games mascot, Tura the Kokomo.

After competing in the final with Japan for two years, the Pacific MMI Lewas finally brought News the ICC EAP Women’s Trophy.

Tura the Kokomo was there with family members, sponsors, and Cricket PNG to welcome the team.

The Lewas were overwhelmed, indulging in their well-earned spoils.

Coach Kune Amini went speechless when addressing the media on the ladies’ performance.

Captain Pauke Siaka was in her moment of glory and could not utter a word.

She was true to her words from the day they took on Samoa, belting 99 runs to set the target for Samoa in their runner up match to the final.

Samoa was not able to pick up the pieces as Lewas took on 7 wickets with 14 runs remaining for Samoa to claim victory.

Lewas won by 24 runs to meet Japan for the third time.

Japan went in as favorites but Lewas comfortably settled with the winning spirit that was built earlier on.

Lewas won the toss and batted first but got off to a shaky start. However, Tanya Ruma and Pauke Siaka’s partnership set the target to 113 for Japan.

In reply, Japan’s Kubota- Kanno came together with 56 runs, lifting the score to 5/80 after 13 overs.

Japan weren’t able to continue after Lewas managed to blast all wickets out at 113 runs, short by 11 runs.
