Lae Police have arrested a man, who was among other prisoners, that escaped Buimo jail in 2015.
The man was in remand awaiting trial for armed robbery when he escaped.
Lae Metropolitan Commander Chief Superintendent, Anthony Wagambie, says he is wanted for a string of robberies whilst on the run.
The escapee took cover as an employee of a major manufacturing company in Lae when he was arrested.
Police had received information of the escapee’s whereabouts and conducted a dawn raid at his house and was told by his wife that he was on night shift.
Police visit his place of employment, however when the suspect knew that police were after him, he tried to escape, but was captured.
He is now back at Buimo jail and will be charged for escaping.
Police intelligence team and the Criminal Investigation Division, or CID, are continuing to work in locating and rounding up wanted escapees.
Wagambie says Lae has a large number of escapees that are still on the run from. These escapees are from the mass break outs in 2015 and 2016.
A large number of escapees were already apprehended due to the support from the community in supplying information and through good detective work.
