K92 Mining Limited has strengthened its commitment to community health, presenting a K10,000 donation to the Waniati Maternal Waiting Home.
The contribution aims to bolster the facility’s ongoing operations, ensuring expectant mothers from remote areas have a safe and supportive place to access vital healthcare.
The cheque presentation, held at the Bird of Paradise Hotel in Goroka on September 7, 2026, was attended by K92 Mining CEO John Lewins, Vice President Projects and Engineering Chris Kinver, and Vice President Community Affairs and External Relations Stanley Komunt. They presented the funds to Victor Timothy, who operates the initiative alongside Sister Bolena Azimo.
Serving women across the Eastern Highlands, Simbu, and Madang provinces, the Waniati Maternal Waiting Home provides an essential “home away from home.” It allows mothers to stay near the Goroka Provincial Hospital before and after childbirth, bypassing the financial barriers often associated with hospital accommodation.
K92 Mining executives highlighted the company’s dedication to improving health outcomes for women and children in its areas of operation. This initiative underscores the critical role community-driven programs play in complementing existing medical services, ultimately fostering healthier, more resilient communities.
