Johnson Inspires Athletes

Australia's fastest man Patrick Johnson was an inspiration to our athletes as they prepare for PNG Games and the 2015 Pacific Games.

Johnson was in the country last weekend for the prestigious SP Sports Awards. He also paid visits to schools and gave a few handy tips.

Patrick Johnson is a dual Olympian who grew up in far North Queensland, raised on a fishing trawler. He began his Athletics career in 1996 at the Australian University Games in Canberra.

He was in the country last weekend as an invited guest of the 22nd SP Sports Awards. Earlier on the day, he visited PNG Athletics who were preparing for the Kokopo National Championships and the 6th PNG Games to be held in Lae in November this year.

Johnson is a living testament for athletes who started their career late like him at the age of 24. He shared his experience on what preparations they need to follow to maintain high level of consistency in their respective specialty.

He also visited a group of youngsters who were part of the Port Moresby Athletics club and gave a few handy tips at the Korobosea International School.

With a record of 9.93 seconds it will certainly push PNG Athletes to be the best in the upcoming major events such as the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the 15th Pacific Games on News soil.
