Jiwaka aims for development of SMEs

by Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

Papua New Guinea’s newly established province, Jiwaka is on a roll to develop its people through equal distribution of resources, economic empowerment and wealth creation.

The Jiwaka Ingenious Business Council will be hosting an SME corporate dinner on Thursday, November 27, to gather professionals, businessmen and women and locals of Jiwaka to contribute to Jiwaka’s economic development.

Governor of Jiwaka, Dr William Tongamp is confident that the dinner will contribute immensely to growing the mindset of his people and deepening their efforts to encourage small-medium enterprises (SMEs) in the province.

“Setting the foundation of the province begins now and as a new province, we will create our path to development,” said Governor Tongamp.

Governor Tongamp says the agendas of developing the province lie heavily on the contribution of the people of Jiwaka and not on outside influence.

“It’s only Jiwaka people that can make the difference through the support of government initiatives and donor development partners,” added Tongamp.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill is expected to attend and give the keynote address. The dinner will be held at Vision City’s Dynasty restaurant in Port Moresby.
