By Staycey Yalo, EMTV News, Port Moresby

Poor nutrition affects the brain development of a child.

Health and HIV & AIDS Minister, Dr Puka Temu, says child development is crucial, and making sure children are fed the right food is important.

The national government has funded K2million for nutrition, and Minister Dr Temu says schools in the country will be targeted as to the type of food they provide.

He added that junk food sold at school gates and in schools will be done away with, and canteens will be built to serve healthy food for children.

He said the future of the country depends on the type of young generation and therefore children must be brought up the right way.
