Handy Group Gives To Cancer Foundation

Cancer continues to be a growing concern for people in the country, with the disease responsible for one in every ten deaths.

Handy Group Limited and its subsidiaries have taken the stand to help assist in fighting Cancer in the country, by donating to the Cancer Foundation.

 

Nationally-owned company, Handy Group Limited, held a morning tea today where all its partners and subsidiaries pledged and donated funds that will be given to the Cancer foundation to assist in its awareness programs.

 

Managing Director of Handy Group Limited, Jessie Mano said statistics of Cancer cases have risen and helping in the fight against the disease is important.

 

Chief Surgeon and the only Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in the Country, Dr. Matupi Apaio, said the main cause of cancer in the country is betel nut chewing, adding that to alcohol consumption and smoking the chances of a person having cancer is very high.

 

He added that advocacy and awareness on cancer should be given to the public and assisting the cancer foundation to do that is vital.

 

Sixteen partners and subsidiaries of the Handy Group Limited donated a total of eleven thousand kina that will be given to the cancer foundation, to help in its awareness programs in the country.
