Governor Haoda On Sports

The Pelagai community sports association in Aroma, Central province has received financial support from the Central provincial government.

Central Governor, Kila Haoda, visited the village yesterday and presented sporting gear and pledged K70, 000 for the association.

 

Scores of people arrived at the Pelagai oval to witness the occasion. It was a joyous moment for this Pelagai community, to receive the sporting gifts and financial support of K50, 000 from the Governor.

 

Central Governor, Kila Haoda, announced that he will add another K20, 000 to increase the funding to K70, 000 for sports.

 

He also approved another K10, 000for Aroma coast netball tournament.

Pelegai Community Sports Coordinator, Irau Raraimo, said this funding will help them to improve their sporting facilities and skills.

 

He said they have 9 touch rugby teams and 12 netball teams, and they participate in many local and national tournaments.

 

The Governor then officially opened the Pelagai village sports oval, and the first match began. The oval is now named as the Kila Haoda Park.
