Divine Word Student Killed

A third year student at Divine Word University in Madang was brutally murdered on the streets of Nabasa on Friday night.

The death of the student shocked staff and students of the institution including the Madang Community.

On Friday night, Provincial leaders, Police and the DWU Administration scramble to address students and to contain possible unrest.

When addressing the students, President of DWU Fr Jan Czuba called for calmness as authorities like Police and provincial leaders are aware of the incident. He says, the Madang Community is not new as students use the nearby streets when travelling to and from the campus.

However the University is saddened as an innocent life is lost.

Yesterday morning DWU students mobilized to nearby settlers to seek answers but were stopped by police.

The death of the student is still unknown as police are carrying out preliminary investigation.

Inside sources told EMTV that students are planning a boycott tomorrow.
