Nali: Resource companies must take responsibility

Concerns have been raised regarding developers in resource-rich provinces, if they are adequately spending on priority areas, for the provision of goods and service delivery.

Raikos MP, Peter Sapia raised similar concerns after approaching the Ramu Nico Management to assist with infrastructure development in the district.

The question remains if developers in resource rich provinces are adequately spending on priority areas, for the provision of goods and service delivery.

The Raikos MP told Parliament yesterday, urgency on the state of roads and bridges in the district, prompted him to seek assistance from developer in Madang Province, Ramu Nico.

Analysis conducted by the National Economical Fiscal Commission in the 2013 Provincial Expenditure Review pinpointed several resource-rich provinces as failures in basic services delivery.

And recommendations were made to the National Government to assists, resource rich provinces to focus on goods and service delivery.

Works Minister, Michael Nali said developers must prioritise their spending.

Developers for over time have been using the tax credit funds at their own will.
