Confiscated Movie DVD’s Destroyed

About fifthy thousand multiple movie DVDs confiscated from Chinese vendors in Lae, were destroyed by customs and censorship officials today.

The DVDs illegally produced had no censorship rating and had been brought using false declarations.

These are some of the fifthy thousand multiple DVD’s confiscated from Chinese vendors in Lae over the weekend.

They were taken to a secluded location outside of Lae and destroyed this afternoon. The DVD’s were taken in a joint operation by the Censorship Office and Customs.

Customs and censorship officers raided this group of shops operated by Chinese vendors, as well as this shop near the Lae main market, said to be one of the main suppliers of DVD to the Highlands and Momase Regions.

Multiple movie DVD’s were banned five years ago. Just recently, they made a comeback on the streets of Lae, after the importers began producing them again.

This has been a major bust, but the producers were most certainly, find new ways of hiding their trade. Customs officials say, they will be conducting random raids in Lae over the next six months.
