BSP FINANCIAL INCLUSION DRIVES RESILIENT ECONOMIES, INCLUSIVE FUTURES

BSP Financial Group Limited says financial inclusion is critical to strengthening economic resilience and creating opportunities for individuals, families and businesses across PNG and the South Pacific.

Speaking at the Alliance for Financial Inclusion Global Policy Forum in Port Moresby, BSP Group CEO Mark Robinson said access to practical, affordable financial services allows people to fully participate in the economy.

“Financial inclusion is more than access to banking services. When people can pay, save and borrow with confidence, livelihoods improve, communities become stronger, and economies become more resilient,” Mr Robinson said.

Hosted by the Bank of PNG, the Forum brings together central banks, regulators and industry leaders under the theme ‘Resilient Economies, Inclusive Futures’ to share policy solutions for inclusive growth.

Mr Robinson highlighted digital technology as key to reaching rural and underserved communities. BSP’s Wantok Wallet now has almost 350,000 users, making it PNG’s most popular digital wallet.

He also pointed to financial safety, noting BSP’s recent signing of PNG’s Empower Finance Code alongside BPNG and 14 other institutions. The code is a central bank-led framework to respond to financial abuse.

BSP will also contribute to Policy Lab discussions on digital inclusion, sharing insights on Wantok Wallet, BSP eDollar and its YES partnership.

“Where innovation, regulation and delivery come together, we create conditions for greater participation and inclusive prosperity,” Mr Robinson said.
