The Bogia District Police have received a brand-new diesel generator set from the Yawar Local Level Government in Bogia District of Madang province to assist with their administrative work.

The assistance by Yawar LLG to support Bogia district police was made possible following a grant assistance from the Ramu Nickel Project’s royalty earnings of last year.

President of Yawar LLG, Lakus Ruambi thanked the nickle-cobalt mine developer Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited and the Madang Provincial Government for the benefit sharing in the royalty.

He explained that Yawar LLG received over K130,000 this year from the Ramu Nickel Project royalty grant assistance which they are so thankful and plan to use the funds wisely in the various socio-economic sectors.

He further clarified that the purchase of the new diesel generator cost over K10,000.

The Bogia RPSC, Snr. Sergeant Saui thanked the Yawar LLG president Mr. Ruambi and all the councilors who have met and decided on supporting Bogia district police.

He said that the new generator would greatly assist the police personnel at Bogia to do their administrative work efficiently in preparing arrests files and prosecution papers.

Law and Order Sector Chairman in the Bogia District Development Authority, James Sukua has expressed gratitude towards the Yawar LLG president Mr. Ruambi for his wisdom in considering Bogia Rural Police Command with such worthwhile assistance.

He said Yawar LLG has set the pace for other two LLGs in Bogia district, namely Iabu and Almami.

Meanwhile, another presentation also took place at that time which saw the Manam Resettlement Authority (MaRA) present brand new uniforms to Bogia police.

The Chief Executive Officer of MaRA, Richard Baia presented the brand new uniforms to the Bogia Rural Police Station Commander, Snr Sergeant Saui.

Mr. Baia explained that the new uniforms for Bogia police was purchased after the Snr. Sergeant Saui and his police personnel decided to sacrifice their allowances from providing security during the Kumil bridge disaster earlier this year.

He further explained that instead of paying the officers their daily allowances the funds were saved and utilized to purchase new uniforms for the police personnel.
