Australia and New Zealand to join Pacific Games

Good news for Australia and Zealand, they are now officially considered to participate in the 2015 Pacific Games.

This announcement was made after a successful two- day Pacific Games Council Annual General Meeting held in Port Moresby.

Athletes from Australia and New Zealand will be participating in the 2015 Pacific Games in four different sporting codes.

Codes selected are Rugby 7s, Weightlifting, Sailing and Taekwondo agreed and signed by the Pacific Games Council and Oceania National Olympic Committees.

The decision was also solidified by the 22 Pacific Island Nations who attended the meeting.

Today at the media conference   Pacific Games Council president Vidhya Lakhan was pleased to reach the final decision to include Australia and New Zealand which has been in discussion for quite some time.

A summary report on the 2013  Wallis and Futuna Pacific Mini Games were presented and going forward was the  conferring of   the 2021 Pacific Mini Games to the Northern Mariana Islands, who will host the event for the first time.
