Arawa, Wewak Amongst Towns to Host APEC Meetings

Arawa, Wewak and Popondetta will be some towns that will host APEC meetings this year.

This was announced by Prime Minister  O’Neill today.

O’Neill said major APEC Ministerial meetings will be held in various towns throughout the country and not just in Port Moresby.

“We want our people right across the nation to experience APEC in Papua New Guinea,” O’Neill said.

APEC Ministerial meetings will be held in the following areas;
• APEC Transportation Ministers’ Meeting – Port Moresby and Alotau
• APEC Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting – Madang
• APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting – Port Moresby, Lae, Kokopo, Wewak
• APEC Tourism Ministers’ Meeting – Kavieng
• APEC Trade Ministers’ Meeting – Port Moresby, Lae
• APEC Food Security Ministers’ Meeting – Port Moresby, Madang
• APEC Mining Ministers’ Meeting – Port Moresby, Mt Hagen
• APEC SME Meeting – Port Moresby, Goroka
• APEC Human Resource Meeting – Port Moresby, Goroka
• APEC Telecommunications Meeting – Port Moresby, Popodentta
• APEC Women and Economical Meeting – Port Moresby, Arawa
• APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting – Port Moresby, Kokopo

Meanwhile the Prime Minister is confident the country will deliver a successful APEC come 2018.

“APEC is a national priority for Papua New Guinea. The APEC Community has our full support to deliver a very functional APEC year with strong policy outcomes for the region,” O’Neill said.
