APEC 2018 Authority shares Accommodation Plans

The APEC Authority will work with member countries to secure hotel accommodation for participants in the 2018 APEC meet.

Chief Executive Officer for APEC 2018, Christopher Hawkins, says accommodation will be arranged in accordance with security requirements.

Hawkins made this statement following a briefing with accommodation providers in Port Moresby.

Speaking during the brief, Hawkins says  the APEC Authority will be in charge of all hotel bookings with strict security compliance.

Hawkins says the three cruise ships will host most of the participants.

“The Authority believes PNG will have sufficient accommodation for all participating nations,” said Hawkins.

The APEC Authority is working through a program that began with initial scoping of the task and hosting gaps to be met in advance of the host year.

Through 2016. the Authority’s focus has been on ensuring solid infrastructure, including accommodation, venues, road networks and security capacity will be in place for the APEC year.

Through 2017, the APEC Authority is working with relevant agencies to enhance personnel capacity and deploy systems to effectively manage the arrival, movement and meetings of delegates, strengthening security capacity through engagement with partners.
