PM says PNG is not urbanized compared to world standards

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said by regional and world standards, PNG is not an urbanized nation.

Speaking at Urban Forum, Mr O’Neill said we have the lowest level of urban population – around 15 per cent. It is lower than Fiji, Vanuatu and even Solomon Islands.

Despite that, the Prime Minister pointed out that urbanization has been rapid, unplanned and poorly managed and the government is only part of the solution.
