The Seventh Day Adventist church in the Lake Kopiago district of the Hela province, recently celebrated its 50th jubilee milestone.
The celebrations marked the establishment, and the work of SDA missionaries in the Kopiago area.
Member for Tari-Pori and Finance Minister, James Marape was present to give the keynote address at the celebration, and encouraged the church to grow from tithes.
Marape said churches must not wait for the government, and praised the work of churches in helping to deliver services, such as health and education, to rural places.
Vanimo-Green MP and former Opposition leader, Belden Namah was also present at the event, and said that the work of God has no boundaries. He committed K100,000 for the new Kopiago church.
Mr Namah also announced that a similar celebration will be held in 2015, on the 16th of December for his people in Bewani.
Believers from all over, in the provinces of Hela, Southern Highlands, Western Highlands and the National Capital District attended the jubilee celebrations to worship, pray and commemorate the event in oneness, and support the work of God.
