The Tsak road project is one of the major development projects that will link the locals in one of the rugged terrains of Papua New Guinea.
The contractors engaged to construct the road came under scrutiny and was brought to court, in which the decision was ruled in favour of Construct Oceanic Limited.
Member for Wapenamanda, Rimbink Pato, supported the awarding of the sub-contract and wants to see collaborative efforts between Construct Oceanic Limited and Kay-Star, a contractor who was already on the site.
Mr. Pato said the involvement of the two contractors will continue, while the sub-contractor arrangement will be formalised.
Mr. Pato, who is also the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, asked people with vested interests to reserve their comments and work together with the contractors.
He said the project will connect and access the Tsak Valley where the majority people of Wapenamanda lives.
Department of Works Secretary David Wereh said the department will deploy a project management and supervision team to the site.
This is a joint project between Department of Works, Wapenamanda District and the sub-contractors.
