Netball Nations Cup: PNG Pepes toppled

by Tere Alex – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

The PNG Pepes are struggling to register wins after going down to Malaysia in their third match of the Nations Cup in Singapore.

The Pepes took an early lead before Malaysia found their confidence off the back of a win against Ireland in day two of the matches. They took the second quarter to a lead and ended half time with 25 points apiece.

Malaysia kept their momentum going and dominated the third quarter as our girls struggled to put the right combination on the court. The Pepes recouped and fought back in the final quarter but Malaysia were true to their game plan as they sailed to victory on 52-43.

The PNG Pepes have a chance to get their first points on the board at 7pm, PNG time against Ireland, while Malaysia will search for their third win when they play Botswana.

The competition leaders are Singapore and Samoa with six points apiece, Malaysia with four points, and Botswana with two, while Ireland and PNG are yet to register points.
