Morobe Governor Rainbo Paita says he wants a suitably qualified and experienced Morobean to be considered for appointment as the next Morobe Provincial Administrator.

Governor Paita made the statement following the resignation of current Provincial Administrator, Max Bruten.

He said Morobe Province has many capable, qualified and experienced public servants and professionals who can provide effective leadership within the provincial administration.

“My commitment to the people of Morobe is that, in the consideration of a new Provincial Administrator, I want a suitably qualified and experienced person from Morobe Province to be given the opportunity to serve as the next Provincial Administrator,” Governor Paita said.

He stressed that local representation in senior government leadership positions is important for the province, while acknowledging that the appointment must follow proper legal and administrative processes.

Governor Paita said the Morobe Provincial Government will await formal response and advice from the Department of Personnel Management (DPM) regarding Mr Bruten’s resignation and the process for appointing his successor.

“We will not pre-empt the process. We will wait for the formal response from the Department of Personnel Management and follow the appropriate procedures,” he said.

He has called on DPM Secretary Taies Sansan to provide formal advice to the Morobe Provincial Government on the next steps.

Meanwhile, Governor Paita, on behalf of the Morobe Provincial Government and the people of Morobe, expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr Bruten for his service, commitment and dedication during his tenure as Provincial Administrator.

“On behalf of the Morobe Provincial Government and our people, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to Mr Max Bruten for his service and dedication to the people of Morobe Province. We thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in his future endeavours,” he said.

The Governor said the Morobe Provincial Government stands ready to work with the Department of Personnel Management and other relevant authorities throughout the appointment process.
