A four-in-one classroom at Mapos Primary School in Buang, funded by the Bulolo District Development Authority at a cost of K50,000, is nearing completion.
Head teacher Lucy Anton said the funds were paid to the school in 2025, with completion expected this year.
She said the top veranda floor and the steps leading to the upper level have been completed, while cement flooring for the lower classrooms and interior flooring for the building are partially done.
“Five of the six doors have been installed, and the final door will be fitted soon,” Anton said.
She added that wall frames and partitions for the lower classrooms are also partially complete, while painting and varnishing of the upper wooden floor are yet to be done. Electrical wiring will be installed once the building reaches about 80 percent completion.
Anton said the school is working closely with community leaders and parents to help reduce costs and ensure the funding is fully utilised to deliver quality infrastructure for students.
She also acknowledged support from the district for roofing materials, which helped lower construction costs.
Bulolo MP Sam Basil Jr. had earlier stressed that the funds must be used specifically for the classroom project. He added that similar support will be considered for schools that complete and acquit their reports.
Meanwhile, several schools in the district have completed similar projects, while others are still under construction.
