Madang Province turned out in large numbers yesterday Morning (01 April 2026) to welcome Governor Ramsey Pariwa following his victory in the election petition case, while also acknowledging the efforts of his lawyer, Martin Kombri.
The Governor, accompanied by his lawyer and wife, arrived at Madang Airport at around 6am where he was greeted by a large crowd, including Local Level Government (LLG) presidents and Madang Town Mayor Ismeal Yama.
A convoy of vehicles then moved from the airport to Madang Lutheran Memorial Church, where a short thanksgiving service was held. During the service, Governor Pariwa gave all glory to God for the court victory.
Following the service, the convoy proceeded to the Madang Provincial Government house, where hundreds of people who had gathered since Tuesday awaited the Governor’s arrival.
Madang Provincial Administrator Daniel Aloi addressed the crowd and expressed sincere appreciation to Mr Kombri for his dedication and sacrifice in securing the court victory. He described the outcome as not only a win for the Governor, but a victory for the entire Madang Province.
“Today signifies a decision that should have been made a long time ago,” Mr Aloi said.
He reaffirmed the administration’s full commitment to supporting the Governor.
“We will give 101 percent of our support to you,” he said.
Mr Aloi also stressed the importance of political stability in the province, urging leaders and citizens not to frequently change leadership.
“Madang Province needs political stability in order for development and progress,” he said.
In his address, Governor Pariwa thanked his lawyer, the provincial administration, government business arms, Team 37, and the people of Madang for their support, stating that justice had finally been served.
“Let all glory be to God. We are only instruments,” he said.
He emphasized that the time had come to “take back Madang,” acknowledging that while progress had begun, more work remained across government departments.
“Today we begin to take back Madang. Not 100 percent yet, but we will take back all departments,” he said.
The Governor called on public servants, department heads, teachers, businesses and all citizens to contribute their best towards the province’s development. He also invited business partners and tourists to visit Madang, saying the province is now moving forward.
Mr Kombri, in his remarks, thanked the Governor and the people of Madang for their trust and confidence in him.
“I am happy to see that the people of Madang have chosen the leader they want. I fought to defend Madang Province,” he said.
He confirmed that all election petitions relating to the Madang seat have now concluded and urged that the Governor be allowed to continue his work.
Mr Kombri also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting both the Governor and the people of Madang moving forward.
