LAE TIGERS TO FACE FIJI’S VUSU RAIDERS IN MELANESIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

The rugby league festival in Papua New Guinea continues this Saturday with the arrival of Fiji’s champion side Vusu Riders who will be facing the Lae Snax Tigers in the Melanesian cup championship.
Adding the spark to what the 2025 Pacific Bowl Championship and the Broncos trophies tour had.
Raiders will take on the 2025 PNGNRLC premiers this Saturday ahead of the 2025 Pacific Bowl championship title banger between PNG Kumuls and the Fiji Bati at the National Football Stadium.
This was confirmed to EMTV today by Tiger franchise owner Ian Chow and team coach Noel Zeming.
Vusu raiders will travel on Fiji Airways to Brisbane and will take on Air Niugini to Port Moresby where they will be based out of Holiday Inn for the duration of their stay in Port Moresby.
The match will be the fourth Melanesian cup match played by the boys from Lae as they host the visiting Vusu who have already announced their departure from Fiji via Nadi International Airport bound for Port Moresby.
Last year’s challenge was between Enga Mioks and Saru Dragon’s in Fiji where Mioks walked home as winners. The challenge is returning to PNG for this weekend.
The championship started back in 2015 between the two Melanesian rugby league rivalry will be an exciting watch as the lead up to the Pacific championship.
Tigers have been a force in the Melanesian cup and it will be no different as they stand against the visiting Vusu Riders on the very stadium that they beat the 2025 PNGNRLC minor premier Mendi Muruks to claim the new look trophy after Mt Hagen Eagles in 2024.
