KAVIENG PRISON RECEIVES NEW VEHICLE

The Namatanai District Development Authority presented a new vehicle to the Correctional Services Kavieng recently.

In presenting the vehicle keys, Schnaubelt has urged actinG commander and senior staff to look after it well to serve their purpose on a daily basis.

“Because of the inefficiency to deliver services, I hope by giving you this vehicle, it will alleviate some of the difficulties you face in the discharge of your duties.”

“Apart from alleviating some of the difficulties you encounter in your operations, I have a big ask to make, please I cannot stress enough, please look after the vehicle.”

“The vehicle is not cheap, it cost K230,000. I could choose to put that money into a hospital, a school and other sectors but I chose you so take good care of it,” Schnaubelt added.

He also took the opportunity to talk to some inmates, thus counselling and encouraging them to live good lives when they come out of jail.

Meanwhile, it is understood talks are currently underway to relocate the Kavieng Correctional Services Gaol to Kaut along the Boluminski highway due to overcrowding.
