Law and Order issues are getting out of hand in the country, the main group of people in the communities that contribute to the lawlessness are said to be the youth.
Sport is one way of keeping them busy so they will not get involved in bad activities. This was revealed by the T20 Big Bash Cricket Tournament Director Rex Kulu.
Culminating to Christmas and New Year periods, law and order issues are always on the rise as people are enjoying the festive season.
In Central province youths were engaged in different sporting codes like, soccer, volleyball, rugby and cricket to occupy time and forget about bad activities which will jeopardize their life.
In Kapari Village of Abau District, youths were involved in the Cricket Tournament to celebrate the Christmas and New Year period.
The Cricket Tournament Director Rex Kulu pointed out that sports kept their youths busy resulting in them celebrating the festive season peacefully.
“The games bring young people together and discourage them to go into illegal activities like drug, homebrew and other activities seen to be having a negative impact on their lives. This is another way of impacting our young people in the community,” Kulu said.
Mr Kulu said from his observations, the youth participating in the Cricket Tournament are behaving well while taking part in the games.
