Central Province has recently established a Youth Council Development Body to embrace and boost youth development empowerment programs in the province. The pathway demonstrates perseverance and determination, defined by the Governor for Central, Rufina Peter to set the pathway for youth progressing at the LLG, district and provincial levels.
Central is the first province in the country to establish a Youth Council Development Body to embrace and boost youth development empowerment programs in the province.
The initiative emerged through a partnership arrangement between Central provincial administration’s Community Development division and National Youth Development Authority to rollout the program with the initial support and funding from the central Governor’s office through the Public Support Improvement fund (PSIP).
During the recent launch of the initiative in Port Moresby, Governor for Central, Rufina Peter, said the youth council body is platform that would address youth affairs at the ward level.
She added that the youth council is an institution embedded with three tier government with fair representation at the local level government, district and provincial level.
‘’The decisions we make today regarding youth development will shape the future of our province,’’ Madam Peter stressed during her maiden speech during the election and establishment of the provincial youth council executive in Port Moresby recently.
“’Young people make up a significant portion of our population. They are our future workforce, future leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, public servants, and community champions.
She acknowledged the efforts of the National Youth Development Authority, Community Development officers, district administrations and all stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to ensure the successful establishment of the initiative.
Advisor for Community Development division of the provincial administration Michael Peter thanked the Governor for funding support to rollout the youth council establishment to all LLGs and districts in the province.
Director for National Youth Development Joe Itaki commended the madam Governor for the initiative to initiate a better pathway for youths in the province through the youth council establishments in all the LLGs, districts and the province that sets the pathway to enhance youth development in the province.
