Queens Birthday to be observed on 14th June

Public Servants around the country will observe ‘Queens Birthday’ on Monday, June 14, and not June 7th says the Department of Personnel Management.

The Department through a Media Release dated 5th June 2021, stated;

“the then Acting Governor-General Job Pomat on the 27th of January 2021 by virtue of powers conferred upon the Governor-General on the Public Holidays Act and in accordance with the advice of the National Executive Council.”

It went on to say,

“Gazettal Notice G41 revoked Monday 7th June as a Public Holiday and declared
Monday 14th June to commemorate the Queens Birthday.”

DPM Secretary Sansan clarified through a circular notice (circular 07/2021) that the Queens birthday public holiday will now be observed on Monday the 14th of June following the changes as confirmed by Gazettal Notice No. G41 and not Monday the 7th of June.

“I issued circular instruction No. 7/2021 on the 12th of March to all departmental
heads, provincial administrators, heads of public authorities and to all public servants but there remains confusion hence the need to issue this media statement to clarify any misunderstanding”.

Sansan said all public servants are to take heed of these changes as announced in Circular Instruction No. 7/2021 to observe the Queens Birthday on Monday the 14th of June and resume work on Tuesday the 15th of June.
