Change is required

Gulf Governor Chris Haiveta says he has accepted the unification to Pangu Party and has joined Prime Minister James Marape.

4 Members of Parliament moved to join Pangu Party last week boosting the numbers to 34.

The four members are Menyamya MP and former PNC man, Benjamin Philip, Gulf Governor Chris Haiveta, Wapenamanda MP, Rimbink Pato and Moresby North East MP, John Kaupa.

Gulf governor Chris Haiveta is currently the leader of Country Party however he has a strong affiliation to Pangu Pati.

During the 1990s, he was the Party’s parliamentary leader and served as Deputy Prime Minister on two occasions and was also Opposition leader.

Governor Haiveta said he made the decision over a period of months with deliberate attention on what benefits the people of Gulf province.

He thanked the Prime Minister and the executives of Pangu Party for the endorsement and says Country Party will join the government with a longer-term commitment of stability and future of partnering into the 2022 election.
