Another positive COVID-19 case in Port Moresby brings the number to five positive cases this week alone.
The 5th positive case becomes PNG’s 16th coronavirus case in total.
While no updates have been given on the recovery process of the three previous cases from Murray Barracks, in Port Moresby, Prime Minister, James Marape stressed the need for the public to be aware of community transmission.
“Similar to that of Murray Barracks we are seeing a cluster of cases all in the same work place..”
“Because of the evidence pointing towards community transmission, we are asking the Deputy SOE Controller and our Health Team to step up testing to ensure we go deeper and see.”
Addressing the media yesterday evening outside the National Command Center, the Prime Minister confirmed that the 5th positive case is another Lab technician from the Central Public Health laboratory.
Four other laboratory workers tested positive earlier this week.
All 5 are in isolation.
