AROB cocoa on high demand

By Lillian Keneqa – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Steven and Elizabeth Saveke, award-winning cocoa producers of the 2018 Bougainville Chocolate Festival, have returned to Bougainville with word that chocolate makers in Australia want more of cocoa beans from Bougainville after two weeks in the country.

The couple were in Melbourne, Australia to attend the ‘Taste and Tell’ event which is part of a wider initiative to promote PNG’s expanding cocoa industry.

The Saveke’s met with seven companies in Melbourne who had been given 20 kgs of their cocoa beans, which were turned into various chocolate products.

During their time there, they went to the Old Victorian Markets to see the fresh produce section and the processes of packaging, product presentation, identification of the product and its delivery.

They also visited several chocolate shops, eating and observing and learning about the chocolate presentation at the retail level.
